What is the weather like in Goa round the year
Are you planning a trip to Goa and wondering what’s the best time of the year to do so? Goa was known to have an off season during the monsoon and the hottest month of summer and the more popular tourist season during the other months. In recent years, tourists visit Goa throughout the year but it is better to be prepared for the weather during the time that you plan to visit. There are three main seasons in Goa… summer, monsoon and winter.
The Summer of Goa (March to May)
You must prepare yourself for the heat as temperatures in Goa can hover around 34 degrees and even go up to 40 degrees Celsius during the summer. Humidity levels are also very high because it is a coastal state so add an extra day to acclimatise if you come from a colder or drier place. The beaches however are still breezy and remain pleasant as long as you stay in the shade or indoors around midday. The sea is refreshingly cool and helps to beat the summer heat. Chose a resort with a pool to stay cool and chill out besides. Do keep yourself cool and hydrated to avoid heat stroke and adequately protected with sunscreen to avoid sunburn. Early mornings and evenings are the best time to venture out.
The Monsoons in Goa (June to September)
If you love a sky overcast with grey clouds, the smell of wet earth and taking a walk on a rainy day, then the monsoons are definitely the best time of the year for you to visit Goa. The monsoon typically lasts from June to September. Thus this is the most beautiful time to visit Goa as everything is clean, green and magical. Although it rains through the day, most often you will get at least 3-4 dry hours with sunshine. You will not be able to venture out into the sea during the monsoons as there are dangerous currents. However, you can stroll down the beach and do a lot of inland activities like going to waterfalls and treks. Make sure to carry your rain gear along.
The Winters in Goa (November to February)
The most popular time of the year to visit Goa is during the winter. However, it is not as cold as the season suggests. The temperature remains in the mid to late twenties. The days are warm and the evenings, nights and early mornings are cool.
Goa gears up for the influx of tourists and everything is bright and sparkly. All the restaurants and beach shacks which were closed during the monsoon open up and the street vendors are out in full form. All the parties and night entertainment restart as well as water sports after a break during the monsoons. The beach is just perfect through the day. Hotels do tend to get filled up so make sure that you book well in advance during this season. If you plan to ride a bike during the late evenings or at night then it is advisable to carry a light sweater or shawl. If you are out during the early hours of the morning you might catch a glimpse of mist in the paddy fields which is truly magical.
You can book your holiday stay at Goa through Goa Casitas during any month of the year. You are bound to have a wonderful time and a vacation full of happy memories.
